The brief

Waterjet Cutter The University of Southampton is interested in acquiring a WaterJet Cutter to enhance the University of Southampton's manufacturing capacity for a large number of high impact multi-disciplinary projects spanning all of the major research areas for the Faculty of Engineering and the Environment: • Aeronautics and Astronautics • Audiology • Biomedical Engineering • Civil and Environmental Engineering • Electronics and Electrical Engineering • Energy • Environmental Science • Maritime Engineering and Ship Science • Materials and Surface Engineering • Mechanical Engineering • Sound and Vibration Research • Technology and Enterprise This machine will be integrated into the current facilities available in the Engineering, Design and Manufacturing Centre (EDMC) at the University of Southampton (located within the Faculty of Engineering and the Environment at the Highfield Campus in Southampton).

It will be used to expand the breadth of machining capabilities and technologies currently at the University and stimulate new research ties across multiple university campuses.

The acquisition of this machine will further engender new collaborative research across the University and will enable University researchers to tackle fundamental problems across any discipline where manufactured components may be required in order to conduct experiments or technical analysis.
