The Category Manager is responsible for: - Managing OJEU procurements from inception / strategy stage through to contract award.

This will include open, restricted and competitive procedures with negotiation - Ensuring consistency of scope documentation and alignment of client needs and requirements within the entire contract suite - Liaison with legal team to draft contract terms and conditions - Managing a small team of procurement and contract management professionals; - Leading team members and ensuring that agreed targets are met; - Delivering strategic, high risk, high value contracts and frameworks as part of a multi-functional team; - Shape major capital project procurements, managing key commercial risks, developing appropriate Procurement Strategies and undertaking pre and post contract award negotiations in order to achieve best value for money; - Ensuring that the team is trained in and use DgC Policies, processes and procedures and e-Sourcing tool DgC One Way of Working); - Effectively influencing the SCAH programme to deliver value for money, achieving savings targets and sustainable outcomes in the procurement of works, goods and services; - Leading by example in Defra's approach to sustainability and communicating its importance, influencing others to improve their approach.
