Reading Expert for Reading Hub Council
The Department for Education is seeking to procure professional services from one expert in reading with a focus on systematic synthetic phonics, to become a member of the English Hubs Council.
It is preferable you have wider specialisms, including in early language or developing a love of reading as the Hubs Council are keen to develop a balanced membership of specialism of experts.
The English Hubs Council provides advice to the Department for Education (DfE) on developing the scope and strategic direction of the English Hubs programme and the work of the English Hubs Training Centre to ensure change and improvement in the teaching of early language and literacy.
The English Hubs Council forms part of the national English Hubs Programme, a £26m investment to drive improvement in the teaching of early language and reading, working through 34 high-performing hub schools and their literacy specialists.
The 34 hub schools are supported by DfE who will also provide secretariat support for the Hubs Council.
The English Hubs Training Centre trains literacy specialists in hub schools to improve outcomes in supported schools, with an emphasis on the most disadvantaged children.
The Training Centre also quality assures the work of the literacy specialists within hub schools.
