The brief

As part of the wider Urgent and Emergency Car Upgrade Programme (UECUP) there are particular demolition and enabling works that need to be completed.

To ensure to consistent service delivery the UECUP will be phased to allow delivery of care to patients.

Part of this phasing will involve movement of the Urgent Treatment Centre on the Arrowe Park Site to Ward 43 within the main hospital at Arrowe Park.

During the phasing element of the UECUP scheme it was also agreed to re-locate the Old Person Assessment Unit (OPRA).

It was agreed that the most appropriate space was to decant 6 beds from Ward 43 to Ward 19 (Older Person Assessment Unit) which is on the first floor of the Arrowe Park Hospital site.

To support the move of these 6 beds, the Older Person Rapid Access Clinic will be re-located from ward 19 to the HDU contingency area on the ground floor of the APH site.

In order for the Urgent Treatment Centre and Older Person Assessment Unit cohort of patients to access these areas, a suitable and robust wayfinding plan must be put into place.

This specification will look to detail the wayfinding options and considerations required for staff and patients to orientate themselves to the new route and layout of the Urgent Treatment Centre and Older Person Assessment Unit during the phasing elements.
