NEL Commissioning Support Unit
Pre-Procurement Market Event on behalf of Havering CCG for the Community Dermatology Service
This sits in the lower-middle of the Health & Social Care band — a mid-scale opportunity. Based on 32,734 valued Health & Social Care tenders in our corpus.
Havering Clinical Commissioning Group is holding a pre-market information session with providers to identify the range of dermatology patient pathways that could be delivered in the community.
The purpose of this market engagement event is to seek suggestions from clinicians on potential pathways that could be included within the Community Dermatology service.
The scope of the new service will include an easily accessible range of healthcare services including whole patient pathways from a range of all non-complex, non-urgent conditions.
The current Community Dermatology service treats the following patient pathways: oManagement of mild to moderate forms of common rashes in adults such as eczema, psoriasis, lichen planus, urticaria, fungal infections – refer to dermatology referral guidelines oPremalignant skin lesions such as solar keratoses or Bowen’s disease oLow risk BCCs on trunks and limbs in line with NICE skin cancer guidance 2010 oMild to moderate acne not requiring isotretinoin.
Non scarring acne unresponsive to routine treatment in primary care oDiagnosis, investigation or management of other chronic rashes in adult unless diagnostic doubt. oDiagnosis, investigation or management of mild/moderate/non-worrying dermatoses and skin lesion in children unless diagnostic doubt oConditions of hair scalp and nails oMedication review oManagement and advice including follow up of skin cancer conditions treated in secondary care by agreement Havering CCG wishes to explore the opportunities to increase the number of conditions treated in a Community Dermatology Clinic through engagement with clinicians from potential providers.
The information from this engagement event will be used to inform the services commissioning.
The CCG will be tendering the contract to provide sustainable, evidence based, high quality provision of community based Dermatology services to NHS patients, supporting the achievement of commissioned local waiting times and activity plans, patient choice and diversity , promoting affordable innovative service models, and providing assurance to the commissioners in terms of performance and quality.
Payment of the services will be based on a pathway price for treatment of each condition.
The pathway price would include outpatients’ attendances (First and Follow-up), diagnostics and patient treatments.
The new services will require potential providers to set out how they will: • build new integrated care pathways • stream line the patient journey and the underpinning administrative pathways • take advantage of new technologies and new ways of working and different skill mix where these are not already embedded in the current service.
The potential provider will need to demonstrate a willingness to collaborate with other NHS and Independent Sector providers to support improvements
