The brief

Silver Birch Court boiler plant room upgrade.

The existing boiler plant room has not been in use for a number of years, this was due to the Mile Cross district heating scheme which was fitted in 1997 supplying the scheme, and the existing mechanical plant was bypassed.

The communal heating flow and return supplies were connected directly into the sheltered schemes system.

The existing gas meter was retained but now only supplies the laundry room within the community centre.

All the existing mechanical plant and controls have remained untouched during the period from 1997 to today.

This project specification includes removing all existing boiler plant, controls and lighting system and replacing with a district system sub-station, new safety control system and lighting as explained within the specification.

The reason for fitting a sub station on the scheme is to create hydraulic separation which will reduce the duty load on the main heating pumps plus provide an option to feed this particular part of the site using a dual fuel system at a later date.

The council requires a single supplier to be responsible for system design, installation and commissioning of the new system described within the specification.

This work will be managed by NPS Norwich Ltd - Property Services Team.
