Forest nursery site development Opportunity - Horizontal well, field drainage and associated drain
Expressions of Interest: WOODSIDE FOREST NURSERY SITE DEVELOPMENT Forestry England is seeking Expressions of Interest regarding development of Woodside Forest Nursery Site, to include horizontal well, field drainage and associated drain.
The purpose of this notice is to test the market and gain an idea of how many suppliers have the capability of carrying out this work.

Scope: This Forestry England project for the initial development of Woodside Forest Nursery Site requires: • Trenching machinery capable of depths up to 5.8m • Experience and expertise in horizontal wells • Membership of the Land Drainage Contractors Association or equivalent body would be adventitious The project incorporates: A horizontal well • 300m long 5.5m deep • Capable of supplying 50m3/hr • Secure housing for pump equipment • Powered by mains or generator • Detailed specification will be supplied at tender Field drainage • 16.2ha of field to be drained • Minimum cover depth of 0.8m, maximum depth expected to be 1.5m • Using slotted plastic land drainage pipe to BS4962, • Ranging in diameter from 80 to 200mm. • Option of drain wrap (pending results of soil analysis). • Silt chamber to be constructed to accommodate main outfall and incorporate a gate valve. • Drainage scheme is to follow supplied design plan.
Drain • Levels to be set in accordance with issued plans and to be checked during construction. • Installation of 300mm diameter pipe, approximately 130m long. • Lain on prescribed bedding. • Connection from field drainage silt chamber to low profile headwall at outfall with grate and cast-iron flap valve. • Trenching to be backfilled and made good.
