Healthy New Towns Phase 1 Support Package
NHS England wishes to notify the market of a forthcoming Invitation to Quote (ITQ) opportunity for the Healthy New Towns: Phase 1 Support Package.
The Healthy New Towns programme emerged from the NHS Five Year Forward View, which recognised that: New town developments and the refurbishment of some urban areas offers the opportunity to design modern services from scratch, with fewer legacy constraints - integrating not only health and social care, but also other public services such as welfare, education and affordable housing.
The programme was launched by NHS England in July 2015, with three main objectives: • Explore new approaches to shaping the built environment to promote strong communities, healthy lifestyles and support people to remain independent • Demonstrate new models of deeply integrated care, exploiting opportunities to innovate without legacy constraints • To accomplish the first two objectives in a way that can be replicated elsewhere, making learning available to other national programmes as well as other local areas.
In March 2016, NHS England announced that it is partnering with 10 development sites across England in order to develop and implement plans for meeting the above objectives.
The ambition for the programme is to bring forward innovative approaches that challenge convention and deliver step changes in the health of populations and the quality of care that they receive.
This PIN serves as notice of the project; provides background information; and to advise that ITQ documents will be made available w/c 13th June 2016.
