The role of the external consultant is to complement the activity of the Race Equality (REC) Working Groups, or more specifically the activity of the staff working group which is co-chaired by Chakravarthi Ram-Prasad, Distinguished Professor, and Professor Steve Bradley, Deputy Vice Chancellor.
This working group comprises staff from different minority ethnic backgrounds who are either members of the professional services or academics.
Work to date has been conducted in sub-groups focusing on the following areas: (i) recruitment and selection procedures; (ii) staff development and training; (iii) promotion policies and practices; and (iv) harassment, bullying and discrimination amongst staff.
The focus of the external consultancy will be on area (iv).
