Preparation of the Amber Valley Borough Local Plan Through to Adoption - AWARD

Amber Valley Borough Council's current Local Plan was adopted in 2006 and is its policies are therefore increasingly out of date.

The Council has been working to prepare a new up to date Local Plan and in March 2023 agreed the policies to be included in a Pre-Submission Local Plan (Regulation 19), including sites for housing and employment growth.

The relevant Full Council report and supporting information can be found at: Committee documents Meeting Ref:2268 (ambervalley.gov.uk) which includes a refreshed programme and timetable detailing the stages that will need to be completed to enable the new Local Plan to be adopted by 30 June 2024.

Although the Council is therefore well advanced in the preparation of its new Local Plan, the Assistant Director (Planning), who has been leading this process, is due to retire at the end of June 2023.

The Council is therefore seeking to appoint a consultant/consultancy with effect from 5 June 2023 through to 30 June 2024.

The consultant/consultancy will initially work with the Assistant Director (Planning) and the Planning Policy team to understand the current position in relation to the new Local Plan and the wider context and will then lead the process through its final stages.
