The brief

Barrow Borough Council has secured £1.1m in funding through Historic England's High Street Heritage Action Zone (HSHAZ) programme to support the regeneration of the historic Duke Street, Barrow in Furness, as one of 14 historic high streets across the North West to receive this funding.

The project, called Re:discover Barrow, will include physical improvements to properties via a third party grant scheme, enhancements to public realm and delivery of cultural activities to regenerate and restore local historic character and encourage people to learn about the history of Duke Street and the wider area.

The programme will also aim to show the importance of protecting and enhancing Barrow's rich heritage.

One stream of the Re:discover Barrow project is to deliver a standalone kiosk that will act as a central hub for the public, business owners and other stakeholders to visit to gain more information & engage with the scheme.

The kiosk will also act as a gallery space & meeting place for groups taking tours of the building works within the HSHAZ.

The kiosk will be delivered on a JCT Design & Build contract.

Appended to the brief are sketch plans, and precedent images outlining the overall quality we would expect from the final installation delivered on site.
