The brief

- There are two phases.

Firstly, the current M-Store system (version 2) will be upgraded to the most up to date version (3).

This will allow SSCL to continue their duties as our supplier under the MyCSP queries. - Secondly, DWP need the data extracted fully from the system.

This will allow the raw files (mostly scanned documents) to be exported from the system.

This will then allow the use of the in house document repository service (DRS) to store these files in a strategic sense. - M-Store is a key legacy system that is currently out of support in terms of software. - This is a high priority for the department for many reasons.

There are GDPR implications.

Currently DWP are constrained by the weeding mandate from Cabinet Office.

When this is lifted there must be GDPR controls in place - this work allows us to achieve this. - Furthermore, there is over 600GB of personnel files within M-Store that is at risk of data corruption due to the age of the system.

A loss of this nature would result in MyCSP queries being estimated which can cause the department severe financial issues due to overestimations. - Similarly, if the data was to be lost i.e. file corruption or system failure then the department may face a loss of reputation This work must be carried out by IPC because they are the owner of the M-Store system.

This was a bespoke system commissioned many years ago and IPC are the only company with the expertise to complete the work required.

Technical architects looked into the possibility of using other companies but the result of that investigation was that IPC is the only option with the necessary knowledge of the system.
