Re-Roofing of M Block at West Cumberland Hospital

North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (NCIC)plans to partially complete a modern, state of the art hospital facility, fit for the 21stcentury, on the site of the existing West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven, Cumbria that was built originally over 50 years ago.

Redevelopment works at the hospital require the replacement of M Block Roof as the current roof system, which dates back to 1960,is no longer fit for purpose and requires full replacement.

Temporary works have been in place for 10 years which are now failing.

Works to the building have not been completed historically as the building was planned for demolition as part of the redevelopment.

Over recent years as the redevelopment scope has been developed and refined M Block is now key in delivering the site objectives and is no longer planned for demolition.
