The brief

Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust wishes to appoint a Contractor to Design and Build (D&B) the design and fit out of the Bedford Hospital ED Phase 2 CT Refurbishment.

The proposed scheme will remodel the existing ground floor internal layout to facilitate a new CT Scanner suite to the Bedford Hospital ED at the Bedford Hospital South Wing site.

The works will require demolition of a number of internal walls, subsequent reconstruction of non-load bearing walls, installation of a new air handling unit and a new GRP 'cabin' containing UPS switchboards with ancillary equipment on the existing Emergency Department building roof.

Where AD Architects, Troup Bywaters+Anders and Scott White and Hookins have been appointed by the Trust to provide the Architectural, MEP, and Structural designs, respectively.

This includes design concept, drawings, and outline specification.

This information is included in Appendix B of the Employer's Requirements.

The Trust has also appointed Scott White and Hookins as the Principal Designer.

AECOM has been appointed by the Trust to provide Cost Consultancy services for the project.

In addition, the Trust requirements for Contractors working on site are included separately in Appendix F of the Employer's Requirements.

The Design Team will not be novated to the Contractor however, the Trust is not opposed to the Contractor engaging with the Design Team and appointing them directly if provisions are put in place to ensure they are segregated from the Technical Assurance Team.
