Barrow in Furness Borough Council
Waste Depot Relocation - Feasibility Study Barrow-in-Furness
This sits below the typical range for Environment & Waste contracts — a smaller, more accessible award. Based on 11,894 valued Environment & Waste tenders in our corpus.
Barrow was successfully awarded £25m through the Towns Fund which is part of the Government's plan to level up the UK economy.
This is an ambitious programme which will transform Barrow and includes plans for a new University Campus and support to remove constraints from the Marina Village site which is a cornerstone of the housing led regeneration area in Barrow.
Marina Village is a proposed mixed use scheme that will transform a brownfield site and enable up to 600 new homes.
Although the majority is currently derelict there are industrial uses of the site which will need to be relocated to allow the entire programme of works to proceed.
Barrow Council owns the majority of the site including the waste depot which is currently leased to its external waste contractor.
A feasibility study is needed to assess the optimal location for the waste depot and to provide a detailed costed option analysis of the suitability of new locations and any costs and design plans needed to facilitate a relocation in 2023/24.
The cost of the production of the feasibility study and option analysis will be no more than £50,000 including design plans and costs.
Barrow Council (the Council) would like to thank you for your interest in this opportunity.
