The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Council
Stop Smoking Support Services for RBWM
The RBWM's current stop smoking service is contracted until 31st March 2024.
The service model is based on the 'Stop Smoking +' model (Public Health England (PHE), 2017).
The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead (RBWM) is seeking suppliers who might be interested in provision of this service under the new contract which will be subject to a new tender (planned to be launched in August 2023).
We would like to get some input/feedback from the market using the attached questionnaire.
Whilst smoking prevalence amongst adults in the RBWM (11.9%) is similar to regional (11.9%) and national (13%) values (OHID, 2021).
There are substantial inequalities with some individuals either at higher risk of tobacco harm or from groups where there is a significantly higher prevalence of smoking compared to the general population.
The Service will be expected to provide a particular focus to priority groups and ensure individuals from these priority groups are encouraged to take up the more intensive and effective interventions.
The objectives of the service will be: • To provide an accessible, innovative, and cost-effective stop smoking service for the RBWM residents, ensuring all smokers aged 12 years and older who want to stop smoking are offered stop smoking support. • To target intensive evidence-based specialist stop smoking support to residents where there is greatest need to address inequalities in smoking rates and/or health impacts. • To provide universal stop smoking support, offering residents informed choice so that they can decide the intensity of support most appropriate and sufficient to address their needs. • To deliver a reliable, efficient, and responsive Service to residents, referrers, and other stakeholders.
If you are interested in this opportunity, please complete the attached Questionnaire and send it back to procurement@rbwm.gov.uk by 28th of July 2023 at the latest.
