The brief

Improving access to healthcare and reducing health inequalities are key objectives for the North and North East Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Groups.

The CCGs are looking to jointly commission Non-Emergency Patient Transport Services (NEPTS).

It is part of an integrated care programme and covers patient transportation to and from a variety of appointment types and locations.

To meet the varying clinical needs of the patient the provider will provide fit for purpose vehicle types and levels of care suitable for the patient’s needs.

The landscape of health care in North and North East Lincolnshire is changing and this will continue.

All changes will be made in consultation with the community and other stakeholders through the Healthy Lives Healthy Futures Programme.

The NEPTS provider will need to be ready to adapt and innovate in line with health care provision.

NEPTS will be provided for non-emergency patients in accordance with guidelines set nationally and local eligibility criteria which are based on national guidance but shaped to reflect local requirements.

People who request but are not eligible for the service will be made aware by the provider of other options to access transport or seek funding support.
