Contractor for scrub clearance
Dunes of Barrow is a five-year project, funded by not-for-profit company WREN and delivered by Cumbria Wildlife Trust to reinvigorate the internationally important shingle and dune systems of Walney and Foulney Island.
The project will restore large areas of currently degraded dunes to their former glory and improve conditions for some specialist species including breeding terns and ringed plovers, to rare plants and specialist invertebrates.
Cumbria Wildlife Trust is seeking a contractor to undertake scrub clearance on South Walney Nature Reserve, Walney Island, near Barrow in Furness, Cumbria.
Scrub is to be cleared from multiple locations in the area of land known as "West of Airfield" adjacent to Walney Island Airfield, and the North Walney NNR, to enhance and improve the existing dune heath.
The total area of scrub clearance is approximately 5ha.
