COUNTY DURHAM AND DARLINGTON NHS FOUNDATION TRUST
Children & Young People's Alcohol Perceptions & Attitudes Survey
The primary objective for this survey will be to provide suitable methodology proposals for the fieldwork in order to collect a representative sample of survey responses of 11-15 year olds across the North East region.
An obvious route as mentioned above would be accessing C&YP though comprehensive schools.
We would however welcome alternative proposals for data collection and thoughts on accessing hard to reach groups - such as children who may have been recently excluded from school or regularly truant.
Balance will also require the agency to identify a suitable sample size for the survey whilst offering cost saving alternatives through sample size and survey methodology, whilst still retaining statistically robust data at the North East geographical level.
The successful agency will be expected to collect data to establish behavior, attitudes and opinions in relation to alcohol amongst 11-15 year olds in the North East with the aim of understanding the reasons behind the recent decline in consumption.
As this is a new area of research for Balance we would expect the agency to work closely with our team to determine the key lines of questioning within the final survey.
Please note that the analysis of the survey findings will be undertaken by Balance and the costs should only be included for project management and the fieldwork and data collection aspects of the research.
We would also welcome proposals around recruiting participants and the undertaking of focus groups to explore the findings of the survey in more detail.
The agency will need to provide rationale for the number of focus groups and group size in order to provide adequate qualitative evidence to support and enhance the survey findings.
