The brief

Cornwall Council and NHS Kernow are passionate about informal carers and need to ensure that they can access a wide range of high quality services that support them with their caring role.

This is for both adult and young carers.

Current contractual arrangements for services that support informal carers end in June 2021.

Cornwall Council is therefore procuring a new contract to deliver the Support Service for Informal Carers.

The contract will commence 1 July 2021 and support Cornwall Council and NHS Kernow to meet its statutory duties to all Carers, as outlined in the Care Act, Children and Families Act and NHS Long Term Plan.

Cornwall Council are seeking to commission one overarching service to deliver a range of universal, targeted and specialist provision to informal carers.

The service model needs to be flexible and adaptable to the changing needs.

A single provider or partnership approach to the Contract will be considered, which could include a consortium of providers, or a lead provider with subcontracted providers and other innovative models.

This would allow a single Contract and simplified service to offer support for all age informal Carers.

Duration of contract: 3 year initial term, with the potential for one extension period of up to +2 years.

The contract will commence on 1st July 2021.

Funding available: £5,705,000 (see Commercial Document for breakdown)
