The brief

Cambridgeshire County Council seeks to commission an artist to create proposals for: Element 1 - Designs for options for a public art installation within and as part of a proposed underpass.

The art work should create an underpass which is low maintenance, user friendly (creates an environment which is safe and welcoming and reduces the risk of crime/anti-social behaviour).

The artwork should reference the history of the area in which the underpass is located and should recognise the positive impact that the Chisholm Trail will have in Cambridge.

Element 2 - Lighting design for the underpass.

Artist to design lighting options to light up the underpass and hopefully deter anti-social behaviour.

The vision for this commission is to ensure the suitability of the underpass in the area whilst considering the area's sensitivities.

The commission should also highlight the history of the underpass' surroundings and work within the constraints of the CCC lighting contract specifications.
