Heating for Hampden Crescent Refurbishment

Kettering Borough Council are in the process of refurbishing two identical 1920's 3 storey blocks of communal flats which house 11no 3 bedroom flats, the intention will be to carry out a complete refurb on both blocks to create 18no 1 bed and 2no 2 bed flats to each block.

Within the refurbishment works KBC are looking at installing a District Heating System to these blocks.

In the past few months we have been talking to heating suppliers for their advice on heating options for the site, we now have to follow our procurement process.

We are inviting heating contractors to produce a priced report for the installation of an Air Source District Heating system.

We are looking at two identical systems housed in separate plant rooms.

In your report you should include all of the following items: • installation of heating unit • Installation of PV panels for communal lighting and plant room supply • installation of pipe flow & return pipe works to all flats • apartment equipment, radiators, heat exchangers and associated equipment • metering of equipment • Tarrifs • Maintenance requirements • System commissioning and training (If there are items which have not been included in the list which you think should be please add them to your list) A site visit is recommended, there is a pack with details of the blocks and proposed layouts for you to gauge the extent of the works required which will be sent to you if required.
