The brief

NHS Vale of York CCG is looking for quotes to secure a new provider for their Out of Hours support into Full Sutton Prison.

This is a maximum security prison based within the eastern area of the CCG.

In-hours medical support is currently provided by Spectrum Community Interest Company and there is a dedicated, jointly used medical area where this service will be based.

We are looking for an organisation that has previous knowledge of working in challenging prison environments, that is flexible and keen to evolve services as required, and that can provide a robust workforce and associated governance structures.

Key objectives for the service include; • A strong ambition to minimise the numbers of emergency attendances and admissions to other healthcare providers, • Robust governance arrangements for staff and patients, • Clear activity recording and reporting mechanisms, and • The ability to potentially work quite autonomously in challenging circumstances.

We aim to provide the best level of healthcare possible for this group of patients and will require adherence to national and local quality requirements as described within the specification.
