Plant Growth Rooms
This is a contract result notice, not an open opportunity. Details from the official award data.
Plant Growth Cabinets are required to grow plants and associated microorganisms in defined environments and soil conditions.
Environmental parameter values for temperature vapour pressure deficit (relative humidity), CO2 concentration and light intensity will be controlled to cause stress or to induce physiological responses to the plants or plant x microbe combinations.
Four cabinets are required to allow multifactorial experiments under different environments, e.g. two temperatures x two CO2 concentrations.
Soil containers of various sizes will be used for plant growth, and there must be appropriate dimensions and access to allow these containers to be brought into the cabinets and arranged for plant growth experiments.
The containers will be moved in and out of the cabinets during some experiments for treatment of soil (e.g. rainfall simulation events).
Experiments will be highly flexible in nature, ranging from whole growth cycle (e.g.
5 months, 2 m high crop) to crop establishment trials (1 month, 20 cm height crops).
Crops will also vary greatly from field vegetables, annual fruit crops, to cereals.
