The brief

Birkbeck College, University of London, is seeking suitably qualified contractors to refurbish and provide classrooms ranging from 20 - 60 students, 16 notional classrooms of 30-seats are required as a minimum with ancillary spaces.

On the 4th and 5th floors a new build lecture theatre is to be erected housing 180 persons.

The location is as follows: Cambridge House, 373-375 Euston Road London NW1 3AR.

The anticipated construction value is 6 000 000 GBP - 6 500 000 GBP (excl.

VAT) Note: the property is currently owned by Birkbeck College (Cambridge House) Limited, a fully owned subsidiary of Birkbeck College, University of London.

Bidders should be aware that the ownership of the property may be transferred to Birkbeck College, University of London before the building contract is entered into and if this is the case, the employer under the building contract will be Birkbeck College, University of London, rather than Birkbeck College (Cambridge House) Limited.

A planning application (application nº 2017/7079/P) was submitted and consent received April 2018.

The proposed construction duration will be 43 weeks (excluding production DWG and mobilisation period), for completion for November 2019.

The procurement process for this opportunity will be a restricted tender.
