As the source of information on the emission, transport and deposition of air pollution, EMEP plays a major role in informing policy developments under the Convention.
The EMEP Steering Body is the supervisory body to the EMEP programme.
It is composed of representatives of scientific authorities of Parties to the Convention.
The EMEP Steering Body meets annually and reports to the Executive Body on its activities.
The role of vice chair involves attendance at EMEP meetings as well as working with the Chair on deliver of the strategy.
In his role as EMEP vice-chair Dr Mike Holland will not be representing the UK Government.
However, funding his appointment as vice-chair of EMEP will allow the UK to effectively influence the Convention to ensure that decisions are made in line with UK ambition and objectives.
This is critically important with the upcoming revision of a key protocol- which sets emission reduction targets for 5 pollutants.
