THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF THE ROYAL NAVY
Fleet Air Arm Museum, Somerset, Bridge Repair.
This sits in the lower-middle of the Repair & Maintenance band — a mid-scale opportunity. Based on 15,278 valued Repair & Maintenance tenders in our corpus.
Normal access to the Fleet Air Arm Museum is via a set of stairs that lead to a bridge structure over a road on the Naval Air Station below, those unable to climb the stairs enter through a ground level gate.
This staircase and bridge have been in use for many years and are now in need of refurbishment and updating.
Some years ago a second set of stairs that used to serve the bridge were removed and this has consequently altered the loading on the stairs and bridge.
With this in mind a structural survey (2015 report, appendix 2) of the stairs and bridge had been carried out and recommendations made to repair, make good, the bridge structure.
The existing bridge and stairs require maintenance and this should include replacing all fixings, localised steel repairs where appropriate, to remedy any areas of corrosion, encasing the column bases in concrete and the whole structure repainted.
Several surface plates and fixings need to be replaced, as do support fixings. (please see appendix 3 - Photo Record BFL Photo Record 15th October 2015 and refer the the pricing proposal - Section 6).
The formal document and appendices are available for downland and contain all relevant information to enable suitors to tender a response.
