B21 Focusing Toroidal Mirror
This is a contract result notice, not an open opportunity. Details from the official award data.
This sits below the typical range for Laboratory & Precision Equipment contracts — a smaller, more accessible award. Based on 9,869 valued Laboratory & Precision Equipment tenders in our corpus.
The scope of the contract is to design, manufacture, supply, test, deliver, subject to a performance specification a focusing toroidal mirror optic for the DLS Beamline B21.
The toroidal mirror optic will be manufactured from a single crystal silicon block along the length of which a toroidal groove of specified width and radius is to be ground and polished into the flat top face.
The inside of the toroidal groove will be coated with rhodium to increase the reflectivity.
The surrounding area of the top surface will also be coated with rhodium to provide a conductive surface for the installation of temperature sensors.
The toroidal mirror optic must fit into the existing vacuum vessel at B21 in which a cylindrically bent vertical focusing mirror is currently placed.
The toroidal mirror optic must fit onto the same mounting assembly that now holds the current mirror.
The assembly includes motors for height, pitch and bending radius adjustment and a gravity compensator consisting of 4 independent manually adjustable support pillars.
A separate motorised horizontal stage and a separate motorised yaw adjustment will be designed in-house and will not form part of this tender.
Note that the toroidal mirror is located downstream from a set of diamond filters and a double multilayer monochromator (not in this tender).
Please refer to the Technical Specification for the full quantity and scope of this tender.
The tender evaluation criteria is: 40% Price 30% Technical Quality 20% Experience & Capacity 5% Commercial 3% Delivery 2% DLS Support Effort
