7298 Analysis of the impact of externally (third party) provided historic environment services
This sits below the typical range for Research & Development contracts — a smaller, more accessible award. Based on 20,405 valued Research & Development tenders in our corpus.
As budgets continue to fall there is increasing pressure on local authorities to identify ways of decreasing the cost of services whilst continuing to preserve standards.
As more and more authorities explore different models of service as a route for identifying savings, whilst retaining service standards, there is a need for the historic environment sector to understand the implications of the different models employed.
Work has already been undertaken to look at the implications of shared conservation services (http://www.historicengland.org.uk/images-books/publications/analysis-of-impact-sharing-local-conservation-services/) and this project is the next stage of developing that required intelligence on local service models.
The focus of the project will be those historic environment services that have been taken out of direct local authority control.
