The brief

Manchester City Council is currently undergoing a migration of their Data Centre to a premises at Sharp, Thorp Road, Manchester.

Having been resident in this location now for over a year it became apparent during 2014 that temperature issues occur during periods of high temperatures, leading to the potential for instability and errors to occur in hardware currently located in the space at The Sharp Building.

As a high number of Council server hardware is situated in this location this presents a major potential risk to the continued operation of the Council and its services.

Although there is an extractor fan in place it is considered inadequate to support the needs of the Council, especially during periods as highlighted above.
