Job Title: Democratic Services Officer Hours: 37 Hours Per Week Location: Sandwell Council House, Freeth Street, Oldbury, B69 3DE Contract: Agency up to 6 Months Pay Rate : £18.72 Per Hour PAYE Start Date : ASAP We're looking for two highly motivated and experienced individuals to join Sandwell's friendly Democratic Services Team.
It's an exciting time for Democratic Services in Sandwell, with an ambitious change plan underway as we review our constitutional arrangements.
We are seeking team members to join us for a 6-month period in a fast-paced environment, where you will play a key role in supporting elected members and officers to ensure effective and efficient decision-making.
The successful candidates will have a solid understanding of local government and the legislative framework surrounding local authority decision-making, along with experience in all aspects of the democratic services role.
This includes experience interacting with elected members and officers at all levels of the council, as well as considerable hands-on committee administration experience.
Experience in supporting and/or leading scrutiny bodies is also essential.
You will assist elected members in identifying areas for improvement, driving policy changes, and enhancing community trust to support the delivery of the Sandwell Plan.
If you are a resilient and flexible team player with initiative, excellent organisational and communication skills, a keen eye for detail, political awareness, a confident and positive disposition, and the ability to work with people at all levels, you might just be the right candidate for this role.
