The brief

Undertake PFR surveys with a post-installation effectiveness investigation on 48 properties located within the Shipley and Bingley areas of Bradford District.

The properties have been identified as being at a higher risk from flooding.

With the exception of one, all other identified properties have received PFR measures previously via claims through the 2015 Defra post-flood recovery grant scheme.

Due to the scale of the 2015 flood event and the significant number of claims for the grant scheme at the time, details of what PFR was installed and the products subsequent effectiveness during flood events over the following 8 years is limited.

The aim of the surveys is to provide the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council (MDC) with an overview of the current condition of the existing PFR measures, any missing protection elements and any issues associated with the products usage, maintenance and storage.

This information will help form an evidence base in support of a future potential PFR maintenance or full replacement programme in the area.

Bradford MDC also wish to gain an understanding from residents of the impacts of any flooding since the installation of PFR, with the effectiveness and experiences of using the PFR measures during the event.
