West Midlands Combined Authority
Cycle Hire Scheme - Potential Consultancy opportunity
Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) are investigating the potential for a bicycle hire scheme in the West Midlands.
TfWM are potentially looking to procure consultancy support to develop a bicycle hire scheme and the subsequent supporting business case to aide an investment decision.
It is intended that an initial scheme would be limited in geographic coverage to some of the key centres and corridors which will be determined by TfWM and local authority partners.
The work is likely to require the following activities to be undertaken: - Analysis of existing datasets, including but not limited to survey data, census data and cycle count data. - Potential for additional data collection, including counts and surveys. - Recommendations for: - Locations for cycle hire stations - Number of cycle docking points at each station - Demand forecast for usage based upon the above recommendations, including sensitivity analysis for variations in user charges.
While a full brief is being developed which will outline the above in more detail, TfWM intends to gauge potential interest in a piece of work of this type.
