The proposed works comprise the completion of the design and the construction of a series of one and two storey extensions, plus localised works to the existing building and construction of a small car park, to the site known as Bishop Justus Church of England School, Magpie Hall Lane, Bromley, BR2 8HZ.
The extensions are divided into zones as follows, along with a new small car park area: • Zone 1 - extension to existing hall along with new dance studio, changing rooms, WC's and ancillary areas; • Zone 2 - ground and first floor extension providing four new classrooms; • Zone 3 - first floor extension providing three new classrooms • Zone 4 - second floor extension providing two new classrooms and common room plus refurbishment of existing classroom Planning permission, with conditions, was granted for the project on 20th April 2016, reference DC/15/05392/FULL1.
The Contractor's works will include completion of the detailed design beyond the level of information provided within these Employer's Requirements, and construction under the JCT Design & Build 2016 form of contract.
The works will be undertaken within the fully operational secondary school site.
The work is divided into sections under the contract, carefully co-ordinated with school holiday and exam periods.
Temporary works are required to accommodate the safe operation of the School throughout the contract period.
Access and egress for construction poses a challenge and will need to be carefully developed by the successful Contractor in liaison with the Employer and the School.
Appointment of the successful Contractor is anticipated in April 2018 with commencement of Works onsite in July 2018 and completion of the Works by August 2019.
