There is and will continue to be significant demand for development of chemical engineering and process safety competence within COMAH and EPR Installations regulation and the supporting functions due to a significant reduction in availability due to retirement, recruitment and internal transfer of staff without a chemical engineering, chemistry and /or process safety background.
EPR Installations regulation and COMAH regulation require chemical engineering competence to be able to read, discuss, review, interpret and utilise process and chemistry related information and basic process safety competence to appreciate process hazards and how they could impact the environment.
COMAH regulation requires process safety competence to be able to read, discuss, review, interpret and utilise process hazard and risk related information with HSE (the EA's COMAH Competent Authority partner) and with Operators.
