Active Norfolk is seeking to appoint a contractor to design and build a bespoke peer-to-peer web directory to connect Norfolk residents with physical activity opportunities in a user-friendly way.
Active Norfolk is one of over 40 Active Partnerships covering England.
The organisation aims to increase participation in sport and physical activity for Norfolk residents.
We do this by providing information about local opportunities for individuals to get active, and provide support for clubs, volunteers and coaches.
It has become clear that in order to facilitate this role effectively and deliver the most effective project outcomes, an effective and relevant database of active opportunities within Norfolk will be an invaluable tool.
The development of this initiative is in conjunction with several different projects coordinated by Norfolk County Council, including the MONUMENT project, which aims to provide active opportunities to carers of people living with dementia.
As well as the Experience Project, which aims to boost experiential out-of-season tourism in Norfolk.
The Activity Finder development will play a major role in achieving the desired outcomes for both projects.
Purpose of the Activity Finder: The purpose of the activity finder site is to act as a hub for all active opportunities of all types across Norfolk.
It will enable Norfolk residents to find ways to be active which suit them.
This includes exercise classes, gyms and sports centres, green spaces, cycle trails and much more.
The platform must be built in such a way that flexibility is a priority as activities is such a broad sector.
The beneficiaries of the activity finder are wide-ranging, including the general public who will benefit from an accurate and informative database of exercise opportunities.
Partnering organisations which Active Norfolk works with to deliver specific projects.
As well as healthcare providers and social prescribers who will be able to use a trusted database with reviews, filters and kitemarking to recommend specific activities to patients.
