Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training - Broker Contract Arrangement - NHS West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board
Following a long campaign led by Oliver McGowan's mother Paula McGowan OBE, Health Education England, the Department of Health and Social Care, NHS England and Skills for Care launched The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism e-learning.

Objectives: - Show experience of working with people with learning disabilities and with autistic people in West Yorkshire. - Contract management "the providers" - Experience of broker contracting. - Experience of due diligence. - Support expectations of providers who want to be involved in this training - Provide "peer support" - Provide reasonable adjustments - Support others - lead trainers - Support others - "train the trainers" - Support providers to administer each training event - Provide evaluation reports - Support on a list that the ICB has of potential providers. o Follow up o Report back. - Expect spot checks by the organisation(s) - Ensure providers deliver and not cancel and # of sessions "the providers" can do per month.
Training Elements of the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training include but are not limited to: - 1.
Tier 1 - is for people who require general awareness of the support autistic people or people with a learning disability may need.
This is an online interactive session lasting for 60 minutes with a Trio of trainers one of which is a facilitator and the other two are people with lived experience - one of which is autistic and the other has learning disabilities.

Tier 2 - is for people who may need to provide care and support for autistic people or people with a learning disability.
This is 1 day 6-hour classroom face-to-face training split in the format of two sessions 3 hours with a facilitator/trainer and a person with a learning disability (half an hour).
3 hours is delivered with a facilitator and an autistic person.
The facilitator/trainer can be a person who is autistic and/or has learning disabilities but the other two people are people who are autistic or have learning disabilities.
