The brief

Delivery of 20 credit module (or as part of a framework) available at both level 6 and 7 for Physical assessment of the new-born (NIPE) or equivalent.

Which allows registered midwives and neonatal nurses to undertake routine physical examination of the newborn.

Learning outcomes (similar or equal to): 1.

Understand and appraise the principles of screening and physical assessment standards applied to the Newborn 2.

Understand and demonstrate an informed understanding of the newborn parameters of health and wellbeing 3.

Demonstrate competence to perform the Newborn and Infant Physical Examination (NIPE) screening and examination of the newborn 4.

Able to critically appraise evidence and research, and draw conclusions of its usefulness to inform newborn examination and care practice 5.

Evaluate your professional role, and personal responsibility when assuming the remit as a NIPE practitioner We estimate approx.

12-15 staff to complete per annum and would like this contract to last 24 months.

We are open to using more than one provider should we have multiple providers that meet our needs and allow flexible choice for students.

In the event of using multiple providers, we will liaise with finance teams re: process for payment.

We would like an element of face-to-face teaching for physical assessment components of the module but are happy with a blended approach used to teach the theoretical components.
