The brief

We envisage that the study will examine the natural capital assets in Derbyshire, to gain an understanding of the ecosystem services that they provide and the benefits that we collectively derive from those services.

The study will then need to consider the ecosystems services and benefits the county will need in the future, in order to support happy, healthy, economically active and sustainable communities in the longer term.

In turn, the study should then identify the Natural Capital assets which would be best able to provide those.

It is anticipated that the study will then identify the priority areas for the protection, restoration and enhancement of each of these natural capital assets, focussing on delivering the right Natural Capital asset in the right place, to maximise the ecosystem services, economic, social and environmental benefits that result.
