North East Area Asset Replacement Programme
This sits below the typical range for Business Services contracts — a smaller, more accessible award. Based on 57,319 valued Business Services tenders in our corpus.
The NEA Asset Replacement Programme has evolved from an earlier package of works, the Northumbria Minor works package.
Initially this consisted of a number of diverse projects in the areas of screen replacement and flood defence enhancement.
The package was progressed with BAM Nuttall/Mott MacDonald as PDU7 partners for the Northeast.
Studies and scheme development was undertaken under a series of Early Supplier Engagement (ESE) instructions.
This resulted in a number of costed schemes, however BAM Nuttall/Mott MacDonald declined to progress with all but one of the projects; Spring Gardens Dam, Co Durham.
A separate contract was established for these works which are now nearing completion.
The remainder of the Northumbria Minor works package was passed to the Intermediate Maintenance framework contractor for the Northeast, Esh.
Schemes were developed and costed for each project and a number have been delivered by this route; Church Lane, Middlesbrough; Tanner's Row and Sele screens, Hexham are nearing completion.
