The brief

The requirement is for a Contract for the Provision of a Vehicle Recovery Scheme.

The Contract is divided into the following two (2) lots; Lot 1 - Recovery of Light Vehicles Lot 2 - Recovery of Heavy Vehicles A number of Contractors shall be appointed and assigned to specific areas for the purpose of operating a Vehicle Recovery Scheme to Staffordshire Police.

It is anticipated that a number of Contractors shall be appointed to, and assigned to, specific areas for the purpose of operating a Vehicle Recovery Scheme.

For the avoidance of doubt the allocation of recovery operators to specified areas shall be at the sole discretion of the Authority, based on the geography and the location of the Tenderers premises and or accessibility to arterial routes.

The Contractor shall operate a Vehicle Recovery Scheme, which will ensure that the Authority receives a high-quality recovery, removal, storage and disposal of motor vehicle service within the Staffordshire Police Force Area.

The Contractor will be required to recover, remove, store and dispose of light and heavy vehicles, motorcycles and abandoned vehicles (excluding those vehicles under local council responsibility).

Including but not limited to broken down, stolen and collision damaged light and heavy class vehicles and motorcycles, which are contravening traffic regulations and causing obstructions on the highways and motorways; burnt out vehicles, vehicles used in crime, vehicles recovered under the Police Reform Act 2002 and the removal of unlicensed and untaxed vehicles within the total area of the Staffordshire boundary except where expressly stated, including from the Central Motorway Police Group area that falls within the boundaries of the Staffordshire Police Force, this being M6 Junction 10a to Junction 16, the M54 junction 10A to the border with West Mercia, the M6 toll road throughout the Staffordshire Police area.
