The brief

Somerset Council operates three Shared Houses to provide bed sit type accommodation for young people generally aged between seventeen and twenty one years old.

SC is looking to appoint a Service Provider to deliver a night support service that will include, but not be limited to, twice nightly checks to each property plus callouts when alarms are activated.

Times of visits must vary to ensure the residents do not become accustomed to the same pattern.

Based on current activity, the regular visits should take no longer than five hours in total per night however extra visits may be required depending on the individual circumstances in each of the properties.

Within the current service there has been an average of ten callouts per year, lasting for an average of one hour each.

There will be on average, seven young people in one house, two young people in the second house and five young people in the third house.

SC has its own roaming support staff during the day and some evenings to assist the young people in any day to day problems and ensure reasonable housekeeping.

However, it is the Authorities aspiration for young people to learn to live independently without needing additional support.

Within one of the homes mentioned above, there is an office area intruder alarm system and also a fire alarm system, the second home has a fire alarm system and the third home simply has hard wired detectors.

A 1x12 month extension option is available.
