NU1980 Supply of an Orthopaedic Implant Friction Simulator for Assessment of Hip and Knee Replacement
This sits in the upper-middle of the Laboratory & Precision Equipment band — a substantial contract for the sector. Based on 9,869 valued Laboratory & Precision Equipment tenders in our corpus.
The University has recently been awarded an EPSRC Core Funding and Unmet Demands Equipment grant and wants to purchase one Orthopaedic Implant Friction Simulator to complement its existing tribology kit, including Ancillary Apparatus, Software and PC.
This equipment will be housed in the new Tribology Lab based in the new Stephenson Building redevelopment within the School of Engineering, Faculty of Science, Agriculture and Engineering.
The objectives of the equipment are summarized as follows: • To be able to measure friction in orthopaedic bearings, principally hip and knee replacements. • To be able to measure torque in orthopaedic bearings, principally hip and knee replacements. • To be able to obtain friction and torque data of a period of time to monitor behaviour of simulated several months or years of use. • To be able to store data for use and analysis later on in other software.
The scope of this contract is for the supply, delivery and help in installation of the equipment detailed in Section 3 Technical Specification to the University, with after-sales support and 12 months warranty and maintenance, all training necessary for safe and reliable operation of the system and a complete set of operating and maintenance documents.
