Independent Domestic Abuse Advisor and Therapeutic Intervention for Children and Young People affected by Domestic Abuse
There are two existing services that need to be recommissioned over the coming months at Kirklees Council: - The Independent Domestic Abuse Advisor contract (community-based services for victims of domestic abuse, coordinating services to address the safety of those considered to be most at risk); and - Therapeutic intervention for children and young people that have been affected by domestic abuse.
As part of our statutory duty to support victims of domestic abuse, and their children, in safe accommodation, we are also looking to strengthen therapeutic support for victims of domestic abuse.
Given the potential overlap between these commissioned services, and with existing services that fall outside of these arrangements, we wanted to take the opportunity to reflect on how we might undertake a broader commissioning exercise that would enable local services to work together to support victims and children, and encourage behaviour change in those who cause harm.
In line with the approach we've agreed in our Domestic Abuse Strategy, we would like to explore opportunities for making it easier for people to navigate the system.
With this in mind, we would like to invite you to attend a stakeholder event at 1:00 - 3:00 pm on 9th August 2022 in the Main Hall of the Hudawi Centre, Great Northen Street, Huddersfield HD1 6BG .
We want to provide some reassurance at this early stage that any newly commissioned services will be required to work in partnership with existing services that support victims, children and perpetrators affected by domestic abuse.
Please indicate whether you will attend this session by email to Jamie Wylde, Jamie.Wylde@kirklees.gov.uk by 5 August 2022.
In line with our procurement rules and emphasis on transparency, this session will be available to all potential providers (including those that do not currently deliver domestic abuse specific services in Kirklees).
