The brief

Thanet Council has an obligation to deliver playground replacements in Broadstairs through section 106 Planning agreements.

Technical Services were instructed to deliver this project in November 2019 for delivery in Spring/Summer 2020.

This was due to dilapidation of existing equipment, and reports of non compliance.

Playground equipment at Pierremont Park, St Peters Rec. and Vincent Close is very old and non compliant with current standards.

The existing playground at Warre Recreation ground, Ramsgate, has received funding from the Fire Service to relocate due to it not being easily accessible since construction of the new fire station.

The existing equipment is not old and perfectly serviceable.

The outdoor fitness equipment proposed for Memorial Recreation Ground aims to encourage healthy and social activity in the community, improving wellbeing.

The proposed form of Contract is NEC4 Engineering and Construction Short Contract The Contract is anticipated to commence upon June/early July 2020 for a duration of 7 Weeks.
