The brief

St Helens Council wish to procure a community based substance misuse (drugs and alcohol) integrated, recovery orientated treatment service (adults).

The vision for the people of St Helens is to have a thriving community where health and wellbeing is part of a borough that is well, economically, socially and environmentally; where the harms caused by substance misuse is prevented and reducing and where people who are affected by substance misuse can have the support that they need in a timely, effective and responsive way.

The service that contributes to this is: ?

Prevention Focused ?

Wellbeing Centred ?

Co-produced ?

In line with the St Helens Health and Wellbeing Strategy and St Helens Plan In recent years, St Helens Council and key partners such as the Clinical Commissioning Group, have made significant investment in high quality, modern, recovery orientated alcohol treatment services to ensure that there are options for local people to break free from drink and drug related harm; this involves not only addressing the drinking behaviour but also addressing the underlying causes of alcohol and drug misuse.

Whilst there has been considerable success to date, there is still a long way to go and our goal is now to reach out to communities and engage at scale and pace; reaching those who could benefit from support but who may be reluctant to approach a service.

The service will seek to prevent further harm, provide systems leadership and address the wider determinants of health.

Bidders must show how they have co-produced their bid with service users and how they will continue to design and deliver the services should they be awarded a contract.
