The brief

The requirement is for the provision of Physiologist Services at RAF Centre of Aviation Medicine at RAF Henlow, Bedfordshire, SG16 6DN.

The service required is made up of 2 elements, Echocardiography (Adult) which is required for one half day per week and ten further clinical requirements as staff cover (Wednesday's only).

Furthermore, a Physiologist service is required for one half day per week.

1.1 Echocardiography Requirement - Clinical Physiologist - Echocardiography > Qualifications - Should ideally hold the British Society of Echocardiography (Adult) Accreditation exam or have equivalent experience, should hold Registration Council for Clinical Physiologist registration, should ideally have gained the BSc (Hons) in Clinical Physiology (Cardiology) or have equivalent experience. > Competencies - (1) Must be fully trained and qualified to perform Echocardiography, including the production of a full clinical report. (2) Unsupervised Exercise Tolerance Testing - including providing a clinical report. (3) Perform Holter monitoring - including set-up and analysis with production of clinical report. (4) Perform 24Hr Blood Pressure monitoring including set-up and production of results. (5) Perform Resting Electrocardiography. > Should have experience / working knowledge of the following equipment: (1) GE "Vivid Q" echocardiography machine and "Echopac" reporting system. (2) GE "Case" stress testing system. (3) GE provided - "CardioDay" Holter Monitoring System. (4) GE provided - "CardioVisions" 24Hr Blood Pressure Monitoring system.

1.2 Physiologist Requirement - Clinical Physiologist - > Qualifications: Should hold Registration Council for Clinical Physiologist registration, should ideally have gained the BSc(Hons) in Clinical Physiology (Cardiology) or have equivalent experience. > Competencies: Be able to perform: (1) Unsupervised Exercise Tolerance Testing - including providing a clinical report. (2) Perform Holter monitoring - including set-up and analysis with production of clinical report. (3) Perform 24Hr Blood Pressure monitoring including set-up and production of results. (4) Perform Resting Electrocardiography. > Equipment: Should have experience / working knowledge of: (1) GE "Case" stress testing system. (2) GE provided - "CardioDay" Holter Monitoring System. (3) GE provided - "CardioVisions" 24Hr Blood Pressure Monitoring system. > > Note: Maximum hours would be 0830 - 1330 on the Wednesday.

The service requires an echo trained physiologist on the Wednesday morning (see separate but linked F041) to allow further echocardiography and exercise testing (ETT) to be performed whilst the non-echo trained physiologist reads and reports the 24 hour tapes that have been fitted the previous day and perform concurrent echocardiography whilst they perform ETT.
