Gloucestershire County Council is seeking to set up a framework for the provision of Social Work Apprenticeships for its Children and Families Cluster and Adult's Cluster.
The intention is to appoint three providers to the framework.
The Social Work Integrated Degree Apprenticeship was signed off by the Institute for Apprenticeships (IfA) at the end of last year.
This apprenticeship standard aligns to the requirements of the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) Standards of Proficiency for Social Workers in England (2018).
The apprentice will achieve a degree in social work whilst gaining 'on-the-job' experience to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviour required to be a competent social worker.
A minimum of 20% of the apprentices' paid working hours must be spent on off the- job training.
There are no formal entry criteria.
It is an opportunity for non academic applicants to study for a degree.
The training will typically take 36 months.
The council will be able to use the levy 'pot' to fund the social worker apprenticeship training and end-point assessment cost.
The apprentice will be assessed at the end of their training.
The end-point tests will form the final point of their degree.
