NHS Rotherham CCG : Suicide Bereavement Support Service

The NHS Long Term Plan published in July 2019 set out an ambitious programme of transformation across the NHS.

It recognises that suicide prevention is a complex system-wide challenge which requires close working between the NHS, public health and partner organisations, tailoring evidence of what works to local need and determinants.

The suicide reduction ambition sits within the context of other improvements to mental health services in the NHS Long Term Plan which will support preventing suicides, most notably: 24/7 crisis care for all ages available via 111; integrated community models for SMI which will include meeting needs for those who self-harm and with co-morbid substance use; and improving the therapeutic environment in inpatient settings.

In relation to this Service the following commitments have been made nationally that by 2023/24: The current suicide prevention programme will cover every local area in the country.

All systems will have suicide bereavement support services providing timely and appropriate support to families and staff in place.

The Contract will be for a term of 13 months with the opportunity to extend for 12 months subject to mutual agreement between the successful Bidder and the Authority.

The maximum term of Contract is consequently 25 months.
