The purpose of establishing a post-operative cataract service is to allow management of patients following cataract surgery to be managed within a primary care setting.
Our aim is to provide high-quality eye care to patients, with quick access to advice and treatment from suitably qualified clinicians in a safe, convenient and appropriate environment.
Management of the patient will be maintained, where possible, within this new primary care service in order to reduce the demand for urgent hospital appointments, releasing capacity for eye conditions requiring a full ophthalmology hospital service.
